Summit Storm Football 42-12 Bend

Summit dominated crosstown rival Bend 42-12 in a 5A Intermountain Conference football showdown Friday night, with the Storm hosting the Lava Bears at Summit High School. The lopsided margin left no doubt in what shaped up as one of the most anticipated local rivalries of the fall. Summit controlled the game from early on, building a lead that Bend could never seriously threaten, as the Storm's offense generated points in bunches while the defense kept the Lava Bears largely in check throughout the night. The win pushes Summit to 4-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play, a strong position heading into the final stretch of the regular season. For a team that came in at 3-1, this was exactly the kind of statement performance that can define a season. With league games still on the schedule, the Storm will look to carry this momentum forward and protect what is quickly becoming one of the more impressive conference records in Central Oregon.
