Caldera walked out of Prineville with a hard-earned victory Friday night, topping Crook County 27-21 in a league football game that carried real playoff weight for the Bend, Oregon-based Lava Bears. The win pushes Caldera to 5-3 on the season and 3-2 in conference play, keeping their postseason hopes very much alive heading into the final weeks of the 2026 fall campaign. Playing on the road is never easy, and a six-point margin against a Crook County squad that fought back to within striking distance speaks to how competitive this matchup was. The Lava Bears had enough down the stretch to protect the lead and close it out, which is exactly the kind of character a team needs when October games start mattering most. At 5-3 overall, Caldera controls its own destiny in the league standings. The Lava Bears will return home next week with a chance to build on this momentum and strengthen their case for a playoff berth.
