Mountain View capitalized on late-inning opportunities to secure an 8-3 baseball victory over Caldera at home Tuesday afternoon. The Cougars stayed competitive through the middle innings before the visiting Cougars pulled away with clutch hitting when it mattered most.

Caldera showed fight early, keeping pace with a Mountain View squad that came ready to play. The home team managed to plate three runs against solid pitching, but couldn't generate the consistent offensive pressure needed to match their opponents' production.

Mountain View's ability to capitalize with runners in scoring position proved to be the difference, as they turned several Caldera defensive miscues into scoring opportunities. The visitors' patient approach at the plate eventually wore down Caldera's pitching staff in the later frames.

The loss drops Caldera to 11-12 overall and 8-8 in conference play, keeping them right in the thick of the league race with several games remaining. The Cougars will look to bounce back quickly as they continue their push toward the postseason.
